Psalms 18:6 (NKJV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n To whom do we cry out to in times of distress? Who is our first port of call? To whom do we naturally turn to? This will tell us where we have our true faith and hope. Do we turn first to men? Do we call 911? Do we call our spouse? Do we call our parents? Do we call our children? Do we call our pastors? Do we call the doctor? When distress comes (& it surely will come again and again), to whom do our hearts immediately turn to?<\/p>\n\n\n\n We must learn to first turn to the Lord. Yes, we can call men to assist or intervene, but that must be after we have called on the Lord. If the Lord is our first cry, then He is given the opportunity to use men to help us. But if we start with men and human systems, then we have put our trust wholly in that which is not reliable. Let our cries first go to the ears of the Almighty God and watch Him work with or without men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018Lord, forgive me where I have been quick to put my trust in man. Forgive me for not calling out to you first before calling out to men. You are trustworthy and you have abundantly proved yourself trustworthy. Now, I ask you to grant me the grace of remembrance and faith, so that next time, I will call on you first- my God and my helper.
