How people respond to us depends on how they relate to our name or the name behind us. It’s important, therefore, to understand which names we associate ourselves with.

For example, in the secular world, people will react to you differently based on who you represent. If you represent a person of great influence, you will be treated much better than if you come as an unknown entity.

In the same way, the spiritual world is keenly aware of the platform we stand on. If we stand on the authority of our own names, we are nothing on the scales of spiritual recognition. Our human achievements mean nothing in the spiritual.

We must, therefore, always approach spiritual things in the Lord’s name. The heavens quake at that name. Demons tremble at the name of Jesus. The entire cosmic realm knows that name. By God’s ordination, Jesus’ name is above every other.

Let’s wear the Lord’s name very boldly and visibly. Let our spiritual garments align with His name. Let our words and lifestyle confirm we belong to Jesus. Let all eyes and ears attest that we come in His name. This is very important.

Look at what happened with David. He sent his men “in his name” to request blessings from Nabal, but Nabal rejected David’s emissaries because he did not respect David’s name. David thought more highly of himself than he actually was.

Would Nabal’s reaction have been the same if David was king? Of course not. He looked down on David because his name did not carry any influence. Expectedly, this infuriated David, but it shouldn’t have. David was actually nothing to Nabal.

We are nothing outside the name of Christ. We are nothing if we depart from the Jesus lifestyle. We are nothing in the spiritual world if we stand on our own authority and righteousness. If we want spiritual impact, then let’s bear the marks of Christ boldly.

1 Samuel 25:9“So when David’s young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all these words in the name of David, and waited.” Some people don’t understand the significance of a name, but names matter.
