Galatians 1:4

‘who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,’

It keeps popping up again and again: Jesus gave Himself that He might deliver us from this present evil age. The age we live in is evil. We live in a dark and dangerous generation. Jesus did not come to make us comfortable with the darkness of our generation; Jesus came to free us from the entanglements of the dark generation and to use us to free others from the same darkness.

I must settle this in my spirit: it is the will of God the Father to ‘untangle me’ from this evil world system. I must not keep explaining away this fact. The death of Jesus was not just to forgive sins; it was much more than that. It was for a total dislocation from this world of evil and sinfulness. I need to constantly put the death of Jesus within that context and always ask myself: ‘do I live disentangled or am I still encumbered in this world system?’

‘Thank you again for this reminder Lord. May my heart never be comfortable with living in this evil generation. Always keep me in war-mode Lord. If I be in Christ & conform to this wicked system, then I’ve made the death of Christ of no value and may that never be my portion, in Jesus name. Amen.’
