Centrality Of Faith

July 26, 2016

Galatians 3:6-7 (NKJV)

‘just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.’

This concept of faith being the center point for spiritual righteousness did not begin with the Disciples of Christ but it goes way back to the dispensation of Abraham. Because Abraham believed God, he was ascribed righteousness. So the righteousness of Abraham was first of all not because of what he did but Who he believed. Once he believed right, righteousness was accorded to him because that’s what God looks for to release righteousness to a man.

This is the same with us. Let’s not keep thinking that our righteousness will come from our works. After we have been accorded righteousness, our works will count for something but we must never slide back into thinking that we can be made righteous because we did something. We must keep faith at the heart of our walk with God. We must keep our eyes gazed upwards and our spirits lifted unto heaven at all times; listening and seeking to obey Him at all times, by faith.

‘Lord, thank you for reminding me again of this central truth. This thing is all about believing in you and we have come into the same life pattern of Abraham once we believe as he did. Help me not to move away from the centrality of faith and fall into the falsehood of living by works. This I pray, in Jesus name.’
