The Bottom Line

Galatians 5:6 (NKJV)

‘For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.’

The summary of the life of faith is love. The danger with religion is that you could fulfill all the requirements of the law and the law may acquit you as ‘righteous’, yet by the laws of love, you have failed. So what matters in the matter of true religion is not the external observance of codes and rituals; it’s not the implementation of programs and services. It is in the expression of love; true love.

What’s the usefulness of all our great theological understanding if we don’t show love? What’s the usefulness of all our bible knowledge and great anointing, if we don’t show love? Jesus was not made famous because of His great teachings and expositions; Jesus became famous because He touched mankind with love. The religious leaders were very knowledgeable but they didn’t have love and the love they had for God did not translate into a heart of love for their fellow men. So we must measure all our spirituality and faith by this one rule: do people feel and sense and receive love from you? If your faith is not working its expression through love, then your faith is fake and not worthy of the Christ whose faith led Him to die for those whom He loved.

‘Lord, deliver me from big words and big ideas that do not translate to love actions. Deliver me from finding satisfaction in great programs and deep expositions, when love is not at the foundation. Deliver me from the busyness of life that keeps me neglecting to show love at every possible opportunity. Lord, slow me down enough to see practical ways that my faith can be seen in my love actions. This is desperately what I need to do, in Jesus name.’
