GODLY WONDER

September 24, 2016

Psalms 4:3 (NKJV)

‘But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him.’

This verse is so wonderful to me this morning. O! How blessed to be reminded that the Lord has already set apart for Himself, those who are godly. Note the tense. This is not spoken in the future tense; it’s something done in the past and continue perpetually. It’s already done. Praise God. Why then will not a man choose the way of godliness, knowing that the Almighty has chosen these ones strictly for Himself? It is the greatest privilege to belong to God because God brings you to Himself in a special way. What an honor.

Another version says, ‘God has made wonderful’, meaning that those who choose to live godly lives are wonderful people because God has made them so. The wonder of a man’s life is not in the things he has or does but in whom He belongs to. That God hears me when I call on Him is part of the wonder ascribed to me because I am made wonderful by God and because I have been set apart by God for Himself. Hallelujah!

If you have been set apart by God for Himself, what more can you want out of this life or out of eternity?

‘Lord, life has meaning and is livable when I am with you. Thank you because you are the very one who makes me godly (not by my own strength) and then you turn around and make me wonderful because you made me godly. Isn’t that awesome? How can I ever repay you for these wonderful benefits, except by choosing to remain in the godliness you have made for me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Amen.’
