‘O LORD, THOU ART GOD!’

Psalms 8:1 (NKJV)

‘O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!’

The song that comes to my mind is the old gospel: ‘O Lord thou are God, how excellent your name is, how excellent your name in all the earth. Your glory fills the heavens, beyond the farthest sky, how excellent your name in all the earth’. O! What profound truth contained in this verse. His glory fills the heavens, beyond the farthest imaginations of man, beyond the farthest of the farthest planetary systems. God is the Maker of all things, the Creator of all the glories that we see and those we can’t see right now. The Lord is full of majesty. It is, therefore, to be expected that such a God as this, is in reality far above all of His creations with all of their glories. His glory exceeds His creation with infinite glories!

The Lord, He is God. He is above all; His glory can be seen in creation but He is beyond the glories of creation; just as the glory of the potter must exceed the glory of the pot he made. O Lord, Thou art God! Your name is excellent!

‘O Lord thou art God, how excellent your name is, how excellent your name in all the earth. Your glory fills the heavens of the heavens and we stand in awe of you- O Lord of the universe. We stand in awe of you. We stand. We kneel. We bow. Your glory is beyond description and understanding. May our greatest joy and delight be in this position of adoration. Amen.’
