Psalms 8:2 (NKJV)
‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.’
I think God wants to prove a point here that the key to victory is not in the human strength but in the guilelessness of children. The enemies of God and the avenger boasts in their strength but God has chosen to display His power and praise through the innocence and weakness of His childlike children.
When it comes to avenging yourself, be a child. When it comes to holding people in your heart in bitterness and unforgiveness, be a child. Like children, may we not be vengeful or acrimonious. May we have the simplicity and innocence that gives God the opportunity to fight for us. May we look to God who is able to defend and uphold us, in the face of our enemies. In the face of the avenger, may the words of our mouth only be words that honor and praise God. This is our strength. This is where and how God manifests His strength. It is to such that God’s strength shows up. Don’t fight in your human ways; be a child and let God move for you.
‘Lord, make me like a trusting child again. Help me not to see the strength of the enemy but to keep my eyes on you- the Mighty One of Israel. For it is by looking at you that your ordained strength is revealed and exposed. Your glory fills the heavens and all the glories of the Father belong to the son. I am your trusting child. I see your glories as my glories. So what have I to do with the little enemies that surround me and seek my life? My strength is in the glory of my Father. May I never lose sight of this truth, I ask in Jesus name. Amen’
