Psalms 16:5-6 (NKJV)
‘O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.’
The Lord is my inheritance. The Lord is my lot. He is my portion. In this life and in the next, the Lord is my cup and this cup runs over. The Lord is all I need. The Lord is all that is required for me to have a good inheritance because He Himself is that inheritance.
For those who have the Lord as their inheritance and their portion, their lines are indeed fallen for them in pleasant places. If God is your inheritance, your lines are lines drawn for you by Him. Pleasant does not mean there will be no troubles. Pleasant means that despite whatever happens in life, my lines are pleasant because God draws my lines; and what He draws for me, He will walk me through them. The Lord is my inheritance. My lines are in His hands. My cup is in His hands. He is my cup. He is my portion. I have peace.
‘I will not fret because Lord you are my inheritance. I will not be afraid because you’re in charge of me in this life and in the next. I rest in your sovereign and eternal love for me and your full ability to care for your good inheritance. I have peace with you Lord. I have peace. Amen.’
