SECRET SINS

Psalms 19:12-13 (NKJV)

‘…Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless…’

Blamelessness is not just from the avoidance of known sins. The tragedy of the careless life is that you may succeed to avoid all the ‘obvious sins’ and yet not be found blameless. The presumptuous life presumes that all is well because they are not ‘stark sinners’ and this presumption leads to practicing so many presumptuous sins; eventually making us more sinful that those we call stark sinners.

This is a call again for caution and discernment. Only God sees clearly; we all see through a foggy glass. Therefore we earnestly need the specificity of the Holy Spirit to guide us and reveal to us, areas of our lives that may be offensive to God and we never knew it. And when we discover these secret sins, we need to cry to God for cleansing. And even when we don’t know, we can pray like David, that God would ‘keep us away’ from these types of unknown sins.

‘Lord, deliver me from my secret sins and myself. Keep my feet away from sins that even I did not know were sins. I can’t see clearly Lord but you see all things. My cry this today is for help from the Sanctuary, to deliver me and make me blameless. Amen.’
