RESIDING OR HOVERING?

February 2, 2017

Genesis 1:2 (NKJV)

‘The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.’

Although there were formlessness and void and darkness, the Spirit of God hovered over it all. In the midst of the chaos and emptiness and purposelessness, God was there. There’s no place that the Spirit of God does not have entrance into or have His eyes on. The Almighty is everywhere and sees everything. And while He may not choose to reside there, He does hover over it.

Since the Spirit of God does not dwell in the midst of chaos and void and darkness, I need to, therefore, be conscious of what needs to be done for the Spirit to reside in me and dwell where I am. While He is watching and observing our chaos and darkness, He will not stay in it. And yet, unless He comes into our chaos and darkness, the void and chaos will continue. We need to earnestly desire more than the Spirit’s hovering above or around us. We must not be satisfied with the ‘sprinkling presence of the Spirit of God.’ If He can dwell in His fullness, then that is what we must seek after and desire with all our hearts.

‘LORD Holy Spirit, I thank you because wherever I am in the world and in whatever situation am in, you see. But to see and observe is not enough for me. The constant fullness of your manifest presence is essential for my life. Without your indwelling and controlling presence, my life will remain an empty chaotic vacuum, without meaning or purpose. Come, Lord Holy Spirit. Come in your fullness and your power.’
