Genesis 1:4 (NKJV)
‘And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.’
The first time God called anything good was when He called the light good. Isn’t that amazing? The very first time we hear God say that something was good was the light. He looked at the light and was pleased with the light. Note that God did not say anything about the darkness, because the darkness was already there. Darkness is the absence of light. Darkness actually existed before the light was created and there was nothing good about darkness. Darkness has never been good and never will be good. Darkness just exists and God does not describe or say anything positive about it.
But God separate the light from the darkness. Light had come and needed to have its identity. Darkness only looked darker because there was now a living opposite; a bright reminder of how dark it really was. So darkness must have hated the light, and the darkness has ever hated the light.
As a child of light, darkness will hate you because your just being yourself is an affront to what darkness stands for. Be ye separate from the darkness and live as light. And never be surprised when the darkness throws you a curve ball, meaning you evil. Darkness must be dark.
‘Lord, help me to enjoy the goodness of the light you’ve given me in Jesus Christ. I was darkness but the light came into me and changed me completely. I was useless, hopeless, evil; but light dispelled the darkness that was in me. By your work of grace, help me to live in this light and never to let the darkness have any influence over me anymore. Amen.’
