SEEDLESS FRUITS?

Genesis 1:11 (NKJV)

‘Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.’

There seems to be a difference between ‘the herb that yields seed and the fruit tree that yields fruits according to its kind, whose seed is in itself’. It would seem that there are some of God’s creation that simply yielded seed while there were others that yielded fruit, with seed within the fruit. Why did God make such distinctions? Why would there be some plants that would not bear fruits, but only reproduce seeds? And if God created both, then both are good and ok.

By the law of nature, some conditions need only seeds and others need the fruit first, before the seed. And we must distinguish both also in the spiritual. We need seed producers and fruit bearers. Those who are deeply rooted in Christ and simply want to see the Kingdom of God grow, usually simply need seed. They want the tools and resources needed to grow and multiply the Kingdom. But there are others who are not so sure about the Kingdom and are somewhat on the fringe. These need the fruit first, which serves to attract and pacify and meet their immediate needs; before they also are called to the field of distributing seeds. Whatever the group, the seed must be there because it’s in the seed that reproduction takes place, and God expects all who follow Him and consume Him, to reproduce Him.

Today’s irony is that there are fruits that have no seed and I am told that there are genetically modified seeds that cannot reproduce! This is catastrophic! May you never be a seedless life and may you never give anyone a message of God that lacks the seed of God in it.

‘Lord, may we never be seedless. Irrespective of the message being peddled out there in the world, Lord, may your seed of life remain firm in me and may I be able to reproduce the seed in others; in Jesus name. Amen.’
