Genesis 3:1 (NKJV)
‘…And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” ‘
Sometimes, Satan will disfigure truth to catch your attention. He knows what God said and what God meant but he will engage you to start a discussion by falsely re-presenting God’s Word. His vision is simply to start a discussion. He knows that once the discussion begins, there is hope for him getting you all mixed up. We must be vigilant to know what he’s trying to do and we must refuse for such a conversation to develop. Don’t allow him to gain your ear because once he does, he will keep pushing the discussion forward until he gets you to a place you are not supposed to be.
Quickly end discussions with Satan while the day is young because there is a time coming when you will be unable to stop the wisdom and deceitful suggestions that will enter your mind. Guard your mind and resist the pleasure of meditating over ideas that do not emanate from God. Most of the battle for truth and righteousness are actually discussions taking place in our minds. That’s the real battlefield. And one of the surest ways to win the battle is to refuse yourself the luxury of thinking and meditating on ideas that do not align with God’s express Word to you.
‘Lord, teach me to guard the ears of my mind and the ears of my heart. I know I am often quick to listen and sometimes I begin to ponder on things I should have immediately discarded. Give me the strength of heart to fight back the voices by refusing to give them a soil to land on. This I know is my first and strongest line of defense and this is only possible by your divine intervention. This I ask, in Jesus name. Amen.’
