REDISCOVERING INNOCENCE

March 5, 2017

Genesis 3:7 (NKJV)

‘Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.’

The natural outflow of sin is covering and hiding. In the original plan, man and woman were naked and they did not have any sense of shame. Sin brings darkness; a darkness that’s rooted in a strange new found knowledge.

In the nature of redeemed mankind, we need to rediscover the innocence in the original design. True innocence does not mean a lack of discernment; true innocence is a guilelessness  that frees us up from the labor of pretense and hypocrisy. We must give up the constant effort to sow fig trees that cannot and do not truly cover. All our efforts at covering will never be sufficient to cover the constant shameful odor that emanates from the fallen nature. Only God and His plan can suffice to cover our shame and restore us back to the original reality of shameless innocence and transparent living.

‘Lord, may my eye never be opened to that which you do not desire for me to see. May I remain blinded and only open to the lifestyle of discerning innocence. May inward in the simplicity of your full redemption. Deliver me from the efforts and labor to cover up and hide. Make me a man without guile. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen‘.
