OUT OF SYNC

Genesis 3:20 (NKJV)

‘And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.’

It seems strange that after God just pronounced these weighty judgments over Adam and his wife, Adam did not show any sign of remorse? Was this already the signs of death showing its ugly head? Why didn’t they cry out for help and restoration? What would God’s response have been if they fell on their faces in repentance?

But no! Adam and Eve continued with work. Adam had been naming all the creatures of creation before the disaster of the Fall happened, and after God’s pronounced judgments, he simply continued with giving his wife her own name. He had called her Woman before which was an apt name I believe (taken out of Man), and now he calls her Eve, the Mother of all living. But, they had just been pronounced dead by God!! How could she be called the Mother of all living? What misfire! What blindness!!

Is it possible that we could continue in our busy lives and our daily activities and yet be far from understanding the God-moment we are in? Is it possible that we could be living our lives totally out of sync with what heaven is saying and doing?

‘O Lord, deliver me from presumptuous living. Deliver me from chasing the wind and continuing on my circuit without consulting heaven. O, help me, Lord, to be sensitive to you and what you are saying and doing around me. Help me not to be simply busy but to be remaining in sync all the time. Amen’
