Genesis 3:21 (NKJV)
‘Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.’
What joy! What extension of mercy! Yes, they had not fallen on their face in repentance but the heart of God still went ahead to institute atonement for them. This cannot be explained in any other terms but lavish grace. An animal was slaughtered. Blood of atonement was poured out. A covering from the animal of atonement was provided for their nakedness. God clothed the sinners.
This is my God. Though sin may have been committed, the provision of forgiveness has gone ahead. God loves me and will forgive me and clothe me in mercy. My nakedness He will not allow to continue without applying His love and covering for me. Hallelujah!
‘Thank you, Lord, for this lavish show of love and mercy to poor sinners like myself, who often fall several times over. Thank you because your atonement is in place to cover my nakedness and brokenness and this gives me hope not to live in sin anymore. I receive your covering for all my sinfulness and in Christ, I must extend same to those who have offended me. Amen.’
