Genesis 9:12 (NKJV)

‘And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:’

Our safeguard in any relationship is the commitment of the other party to the relationship. Your commitment to a relationship is not sufficient to uphold the relationship without a commensurate commitment from the other party. God, who cannot lie, made a sign of covenant with Noah and He has kept His covenant till date. However, in Christ, we have even a stronger sign than the symbol of the rainbow as the sign of our covenant. God Himself has made Himself the symbol through the sacrifice of Himself in the Person of Christ. Can there be a greater symbol of love and loyalty than to give your life as an offering for another? Can there be any greater witness of commitment than this?

Therefore, we must rest assured in His assurance that our assurance is sure! No need to fret. The cross speaks louder than the rainbow; and if the sign of the rainbow still stands as a sure witness to God’s faithfulness, then surely the cross stands as a stronger and more eternal witness.

‘Your covenant commitment to me, and the sign of that commitment through the cross is the bedroom of my assurance in life. There is no fear in life and no anxiety at death. All uncertainties have been removed with the everlasting sign of love, written in the blood of the Savior. With this knowledge, help me Lord, live my life to the fullest, in full loyalty and steadiness, to your higher calling and expectations. Amen.’
