MIGHTY BEFORE GOD

April 16, 2017

Genesis 10:8-9 (NKJV)

‘Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” ‘

To not desire greatness, is not a sign of humility. The real issue about greatness is the rationale behind our desire for greatness. Nimrod became mighty on the earth. He became a mighty warrior on the earth…but all this was done ‘before the Lord’. Nimrod was great but it was greatness in the presence of God.

We can seek God’s greatness and to be of great influence on the earth but it must be for God’s glory and in God’s way. As Nimrod became a great hunter, we too can become great hunters, once the purpose and the pattern of hunting is the Lord. A lack of desire for greatness is a problem in itself, because such a life does not desire the influence that can be had for God’s Kingdom. The real challenge of greatness is that once greatness has been achieved, the danger of pride and humility quickly step in and seek to destroy the purpose for which God granted greatness. Let’s seek greatness in God’s presence and let’s pursue to remain in God’s presence, after greatness has been achieved.

‘Lord, I want a lot of influence in my generation. I want to be great, before never outside of your presence. I seek the influence that can count for you, but I fear the dangers associated with greatness. If you know Lord that I wont be able to handle the distractions of greatness, then please don’t bring it my way. But if under your grace, I can use personal greatness to enhance your Kingdom on earth without destroying myself, then Lord, bring it on in all its fullness. This I ask for, in Jesus name. Amen.’
