DON’T GO DOWN

April 23, 2017

Genesis 12:10 (NKJV)

‘Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land.’

I refuse to go down to Egypt. I refuse. Yes, there may be famine in the land but I will not stoop DOWN to Egypt. Egypt is a place of bondage and worldliness, and I will not enter into any form of captivity so as to survive or escape famine.

If I go to Egypt, I will do so because of God’s instruction and it will not be going down to enter bondage but going down to free souls from bondage. The reason one goes into Egypt is important. Don’t go to Egypt because of famine. Don’t go to Egypt because you need Egypt. Don’t go to Egypt to dwell. In this case, Abram had to lie about his wife, and although God plagued Pharaoh’s house for taking Sarai, it was Abram’s fault for acting like the people of Egypt.

‘O Father, deliver me from going down to Egypt. May my heart never be pulled to Egypt for any reason. No matter the condition or situation, may I trust in God and never return to the house of bondage. In Jesus name. Amen.’
