CAPTURED BY LUST

Genesis 14:12 (NKJV)

‘They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.’

Lot had chosen the ‘lush plains of Sodom,’ not knowing he had chosen a place of contention and that he would become a captive together with all his household. We don’t know if he fought or not, but it was clear that he was not up to the strength of his attackers. They overwhelmed him. Lot got captured because he let his lust for material prosperity blind him.

We must be careful in the choices we make because they open doors for battles we must be ready to fight. If your choice is wrong, you will not have the support of heaven to fight those who come to take you captive. You need to be at the right place and at the right time to expect the right grace to overcome. Lot was more concerned about the prosperity of the land that he could not discern what God’s mind was.

‘Father, make me sensitive to You and never allow me enter regions where I will have to fight battles without You. By the power of the cross, deliver me from all forms of lustful desires that lead to captivity, in Jesus name. Amen.’
