THE CORRUPT GIFT!

Genesis 14:23 (NKJV)

‘that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, “I have made Abram rich’—’

Abram refused to take the goods and spoils of war being offered him by the king of Sodom because he didn’t want him to one day boast that he made Abram rich. What wisdom. What discernment.

We must be careful whom we allow to bless us. There are those whom God may send our way to bless us, and there are those that Satan will likewise send our way. May we be discerning to know whom we can receive gifts from and whom we need to stay away from their gifts. Taking gifts from corrupt men will only corrupt us. Taking donations from people of ill motive will only bring us into a snare. For this reason, some leaders are unable to stand for truth and speak truth; because they have already compromised their positions by taking gifts from the wrong quarters.

Yes, be free to receive gifts. But be extremely discerning as to whom you may receive any gratification from. It is better to remain in squalor than to be corrupted by the corrupted riches of wicked men.

‘May I always put a knife to my throat of desire so that I do not hunger for the riches of the wicked. Keep me contented and satisfied in You Lord, and suffocate every strange desire for strange gifts, in Jesus name. Amen.’
