BEER LAHAI ROI

Genesis 16:13 (NKJV)

‘Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”’

Hagar did not expect God knew where she was or maybe she thought God did not care about where she was. Afterall, she was just an Egyptian slave girl being maltreated by her mistress, whom it turned out to be, was the wife of Abram the great man of God. How could God remember her? Apparently, in her thinking, she thought she counted for nothing.

But God does not think the way Man does. God sees the pains and struggles of all of His creation. And God cares for all of His creation. Even the slave girl counts to God because He made her and her plight is His concern. God sees always and sees all things, and He is concerned about everyone.

As a remembrance, Hagar called the place, Beer Lahai Roi which means ‘the well of Him who lives and sees me.’ We must remember this well, all the time because He lives, and He sees us, always.

‘Such joy to know that You live and You see me, all the time. Even when I am in the most hidden desperate corner of the world, You know and You see me. O God, may this revelation of Hagar always stick in my consciousness, all the time, in Jesus name. Amen.’
