Genesis 17:3 (NKJV)
‘Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:’
Abram fell on his face, and God spoke to him. God had started talking to him, but once he realized it was God speaking, he fell on his face before God.
We must not become too casual with God. He introduced Himself to Abram as the Almighty God. That’s who He is, Almighty. Such a One must not be approached carelessly. Worship, prayers & devotional study must be made with total reverence for the Almightiness of God. It is hard to really approach His Almightiness with casualness. If we do, then maybe we are yet to enter into His very actual presence; for in that ‘terror of presence’, it is impossible to be standing in self-righteousness or self-importance.
‘I fall before You my Almighty King. I fall before You. You are the Great One, Him who is Above all. I fall before Your Majesty my Father. My self-importance and human successes are all filthy and irrelevant before You. I fall on my face before You. Be exalted over and above me. Amen.’
