Genesis 17:17-18 (NKJV)

‘Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!”’

Some things God may be saying about us may seem too far-fetched that we think they cannot become a reality, but we must always remember, He is the Almighty God. He is the One to whom nothing is impossible. Abraham had had his name changed. Abraham had received the covenant of circumcision as a sign of God’s covenant. Abraham had heard the word of promise directly from God’s mouth, but he still laughed and doubted in his heart. Rather than believe, he requested that a slave child is blessed instead.

May we not stumble when God speaks a promise to us. There are great and awesome things in the mind of God, and I need to believe it. Failure to believe means that we are caught in a trap that might make us settle for less than the promise of God for our lives.

‘I choose to believe Lord. I choose to believe. I know nothing is impossible with God but You need my cooperation through faith. Help me stand in faith even when it doesn’t make sense. O Lord, help me stand in faith and not deride You ability by my littleness. In Jesus name. Amen.’
