Genesis 18:22 (NKJV)
‘Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.’
A cry had come to the Lord against Sodom and Gomorrah. God was determined to destroy it, but Abraham stood in the gap and pleaded for the city because he knew his nephew and his family was in that town. Abraham would not be silent but stood in the gap for his family, even before the Lord.
Stand in the gap for your family. The tides of sin and evil are swarming our generation, and the judgment of God is upon the land. But we can intercede for the salvation and deliverance of our people. And even if it was their wrong decision to go to Sodom, we can still plead forgiveness and mercy and still prevail with God.
‘Yes Lord, I plead for my family. Several members are outside Your Covenant and I cannot be quiet while they slide into eternal destruction. I plead Your mercy over my children, my siblings, my parents. They will not be destroyed with the godless and unbelieving; and I refuse for them to continue to slide away from Your grasp. Please Lord, for the sake of Christ. Please Lord. Amen.’
