A SAD END

Genesis 19:37-38 (NKJV)

‘The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day.’

Lots story unfortunately has a sad end. So Lot became the father of the Moabites and the Ammonites, those ancient enemies of God’s people. Ironically, the struggle that Abraham had tried to avoid between his people and Lot’s people eventually became a continuous struggle for many generations, because of the foolishness of Lot and his daughters. After all of Abraham’s efforts, the end of Lot and his descendants was a sad case.

When a child comes of age and leaves home, there’s a limit to which you can impute into his life. Having done all, taught all and prayed all, we must leave the people to walk into their destiny fashioned by their actions. The end can be beautiful or sorrowful, depending on how they live and raise their families. So while Abraham is forever remembered for good, Lot has left a legacy of descendants who have no purpose in God’s plans. A tragic and sad end indeed.

‘My children shall never end as Lots family did. My children shall not be remembered as being enemies of God’s people. My children’s children shall continue to live in the covenant of Jesus, even as I have lived in the covenant of Jesus. So shall it be. Amen.’
