Genesis 21:1-2 (NKJV)
“And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”
God is never late. He may not follow our timetable and meet our expectations, but He’s never late. He works according to His own time and schedule for His people. Our greatest joy need not be that we meet our desires but that God does His will in our lives and in His own time.
The Lord met with Sarah as He had spoken, but at the set time. There was a set time, and while we may not always know the reasons for the fixed period, God does have a set time to fulfill His promises and purposes. Though they were old in years, that was how God wanted it. He wasn’t late in coming; He came at the set time.
May we always wait for the set time, the appointed time; heaven’s time.
“Father, deliver me from the spirit of anxiety; that sinful inclination that makes me think that I know what time is best for me. Lord, I trust in Your time. Just help me wait for You without fretting. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
