UNQUESTIONING FAITH

June 19, 2017

Genesis 22:3 (NKJV)

“So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took… Isaac his son…and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.”

What manner of faith is this? I must confess that I do not have this type of faith. After God had asked him to take his “Only Son” to sacrifice on the mount, Abraham “rose early in the morning” to do it!! What??? Did he not need time to discuss and negotiate with God? Did he not think it necessary to get his wife’s understanding and consent? Should he not have prepared himself and calmed his nerves and encouraged his heart, at least for a few days, before setting out? What manner of man is this?

This is faith. Obeying even when it hurts and even when you don’t understand. This is faith. Setting out to obey God even when every part of you screams- “it doesn’t make sense.” This is true faith.

“O Lord, grant me this type of faith and help me function in it from today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
