Genesis 22:14 (NKJV)
“And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, ‘In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’”
The mount of testing is also the mount of revelation. When God keeps silent and doesn’t seem to intervene in your situation, He’s only waiting and watching to observe your reaction. God wants to see if you will stick in there to the end. When faced with an extreme situation, know that God is about to reveal something unique and new about Himself to you.
God revealed Himself as Jehovah Jireh (Hebrew YHWH Yireh), not in the comfort of Abraham’s private retreat chambers but in the heat of the mount of sacrifice. If we escape the mount of sacrifice, we can never receive the fresh revelation of God. It’s an irony that while today we sing the song, ‘Jehovah Jireh, my provider,’ we at the same time flee the mount of the Lord. We cannot escape the mount of testing and still experience His new revelation. May we remember that the verse states clearly, “In the Mount of the Lord, it shall be provided.”
Let’s climb that mount of sacrifice and receive a new encounter of God.
“Amen, Lord. I will climb this mount with You for I know that at the end of the journey, I will still come out better than when I started the climb. I want to experience You in new ways, and if it means learning to follow You to the mount, then I will go. Grant me the grace to climb Lord. Amen.”
