Genesis 26:3-5 (NKJV)

“…I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven…because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

Patriarchal blessings are powerful. Imagine all the blessings God granted Isaac and his descendants; not because of his personal righteousness but because of Abraham. God was committed to the oath He swore to Abraham, and He remained committed to blessing Isaac because “Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.” Isaac was reaping a harvest simply from the life of his father. What a privilege to have such a patriarch.

In the same way, my life can bring blessings to my family. If I am conscious of this, then I will realize that my holiness and obedience to God is not just for the sake of my making heaven or having a successful ministry on earth; but because of the impact, it can have on my many descendants and my inheritance.

“Lord Jesus, You said, ‘For their sakes, I sanctify myself.’ You are my spiritual patriarch, and because of You, I receive unmerited favors from Heaven. In the same way, I must sanctify myself that I may receive an inheritance for my descendants coming after me. Help me Lord to rise to this calling, even as You rose to Yours. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
