Genesis 27:4 (NKJV)
“And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”
Don’t bless because of physical satisfaction. We need only to bless whomsoever God has ordained we bless. Again, discernment is required. It’s not those who satisfy our fleshly desires that necessarily qualify for our blessings. We need to seek God’s face before we bless. Isaac was going to bless Esau because he cooked well and fed him delicious meals.
Also, don’t bless according to tradition. Don’t bless because someone is older or smarter. Bless because heaven has appointed someone for a position of blessing. The first in line need not necessarily be the first to be blessed or be the one to receive the highest benefit. Esau was the older one, but he was not the one to receive the patriarchal blessing.
We are called to bless, but we must seek heaven’s leadership before we bless.
“May I never hurriedly proclaim blessings on anyone because I feel like or because they asked for it. I need to be sure that I am not blessing someone whom God has cursed. Discernment Lord is one of my greatest needs, so help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.”
