TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS

Genesis 27:22-24 (NKJV)

“So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, ‘The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.’ And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him. Then he said, ‘Are you really my son Esau?’ He said, ‘I am.’”

Isaac had some reservations about who was really in his presence. Though his eyes were dim, he sensed something was wrong. First, the timing and speed of getting the meal ready were wrong. Secondly, the voice was wrong. The hands were the hands of Esau, and the smell of the garments were also those of Esau, but he still sensed something was unusually wrong.

Follow your inner God-given instincts. Don’t depend on human reasoning or human evidence. Sometimes, you might only feel something is wrong, but you may not be able to place what it is. This type of gut instinct is God’s gift to his saints. Don’t proceed when you have a high inward check or inner restlessness about something. Don’t proceed. Stop to double check and triple check. And if after all your checking you still don’t have peace in your spirit man, drop the project until peace comes. Isaac had to ask again: “Are you really my son Esau?” He knew something was wrong, but his physical discernment couldn’t identify what it was.

Trust your inner instinct and align your actions to that instinct.

“Lord, I pray that Your Spirit will continually lead and warn and caution me when I am about to get into a trap. Please, Lord, I cannot see and know all things. I am blind without You. Help Lord. Give me a hand, please. Amen.”
