Genesis 27:41 (NKJV)
“So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, ‘The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.’”
Don’t complicate a bad situation with a wrong decision. To cover up a hole, we need skill and creativity lest we end up digging another hole in place of the first hole. Don’t do evil to cover another crime. Esau hated Jacob because he (Esau) never acknowledged that losing his birthright was of his making. Rather than mourn his wrong decision, he began designing another evil plot to further compound his already complicated destiny.
When in a tight spot, don’t react immediately. Yes, the situation may be unpalatable but still calmly seek God’s guidance on the best way out. A quick and sudden decision may make a bad situation an irreversible situation.
“I guard my heart. I will not permit my heart to lead me into executing decisions that will only compound my situation. O, Lord! Help me guard my heart against complicating my life and destiny, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
