Genesis 28:1 (NKJV)
“Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: ‘You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.’”
Don’t be unequally yoked. To yoke yourself with someone of a different spiritual nature will inadvertently lead to your pollution. Be friends with everyone but be careful to whom you attach yourself. Marriage is an example of how not to be unequally yoked. Being married to a child of this world will bring pain, sorrow, and pollution to your spirit. If marriage had occurred before you knew Christ, then mercy will meet with you in the marriage. But a child of God must not knowingly enter into a marital relationship with an unbeliever for any reason.
Isaac blessed Jacob but then charged him not to marry the daughters of Canaan because he knew that such a marriage would rob him of his blessings. Esau both lost his birthright and married from the daughters of the land. He lost everything. Though he was a child of the covenant, he had yoked himself away from the covenant of God’s people.
Whom you yoke yourself with will determine if you remain in the blessings of God or not.
“I refuse to bind myself to any stranger to the covenant of God, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
