Genesis 28:3-4 (NKJV)

“May God Almighty bless you, And make you fruitful and multiply you, That you may be an assembly of peoples; And give you the blessing of Abraham, To you and your descendants with you, That you may inherit the land…”

After his initial error of judgment in wanting Esau to receive his patriarchal blessing, Isaac now knew and understood that the blessings were to go to Jacob. So without prompting and without Jacob needing to scheme it, Isaac downloaded a myriad of blessings on Jacob. That’s discernment.

Pray for your fathers’ blessings. And if you don’t have a biological father still alive, pray for a spiritual father to bless you. Jacob had schemed his way to get the first blessing but here were blessings being offered at the instance of his father- willingly, joyfully and without prejudice. If the first blessing was disqualified because of how it was received, here was a legitimate blessing from God.

Seek God to lay His blessings on you through your father. And if you are a father, regularly put your hands on and bless your children.

“I will daily bless my children; and Lord, how I need a spiritual father who can frequently lay his hands on me to bless me. Please make this happen, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
