OMNIPRESENCE!

Genesis 28:16-17 (NKJV)

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.’ And he was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!’”

The place being described was an empty and commonplace; not some unique marbled place. It was simply a place where the sun set and Jacob had no other option but to sleep there. In this ordinary place where the only thing he could find for a pillow was a stone, God appeared to him, and he called it the gate to heaven.

God is everywhere. Wherever your heart opens to God, God opens to you. It’s not in some secret distant location; it’s not in some quiet holy tabernacle; it’s not in some specialized spiritual center: God is everywhere, and He is ready to reveal Himself to those who are willing. Jacob, the schemer, was ready. He had just received the fathers’ blessing. He was traveling to Haran in obedience to his parents. He was vulnerable; he knew his brother was planning to kill him.

We must puncture that doctrine that locates God only in a particular place somewhere. The God of heaven inhabits the entire earth, and once He finds a heart ready for an encounter, He shows Himself.

Don’t travel looking for God. Open up, and you’ll find He’s right there.

“Lord, I open up my heart to You afresh. I crave to have a divine encounter with You. This is the best gift You could give to me my Lord. I pray for this to happen, even where I am today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
