LIMPING WITH GOD

August 31, 2017

Genesis 32:31 (NKJV)

“Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip.”

Those who have encountered God walk with a limp. Those who have been touched by God cannot walk as they used to. Unless God cripples you, He cannot change you. Jacob was known as the Schemer, but after the touch of God, he became known as Israel – the Prince with God. But that was at a price – the price of dislocation.

The self-complete Man who has never experienced the pain of God’s dislocation will live only by his personal strength. He will grow and prosper by his human skills and gifts. But he will never be a Prince with God. An Israel emerges only after a dislocation happens. You can’t walk straight and strong anymore. You will need to depend on God for life. You can’t run but learn to walk with God. Your personal prowess and skills come under His stethoscope, and you only walk by grace.

Such a beautiful life of humble submission. The “Sun” rises of those who walk with a limp.

“Oh Jesus, dislocate me. Up until now, I have lived by my human skill, wisdom, and strength; but I now want more. I want the life that comes after an experience of dislocation. I want to be weak and vulnerable and dependent on You. So help me Lord by dislocating that human ability that keeps me standing straight without You. This I ask, in Your name. Amen.”
