Genesis 33:1 (NKJV)
“Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men…”
We must be ready to face our fears. Jacob had always dreaded the day he would meet his elder brother and now the day had come. Esau came to meet Jacob with four hundred men. We don’t know what Esau had in mind coming with such a large army, but it seems he was ready for the worst. He may not have trusted Jacob and was, therefore, ready for whatever would happen.
Put your total trust in the Lord. When the day of fear comes, there’s nothing you can do about it. Only God can make way for you on that day. There’s nothing Jacob could do to overcome Esau’s 400 men; absolutely nothing. Though he yet tried different last minutes schemes, deep in his heart, am sure he knew none could assuage his brother. He was now in the hands of God and at the mercy of his brother. When your day comes, entrust your fate more fully into God’s hands and rest there.
“I rest in You, my Lord and King. Many fears surround me and when the day to meet my fears arrive, please Lord, grant my the faith to release all into Your hands. My rest can only come from You, and of this I am sure. Amen.”
