HANDLING THE WORLD

September 5, 2017

Genesis 34:1 (NKJV).

“Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.”

What was Dinah doing going to visit the daughters of the land? Maybe to check their fashion? Maybe to understand their girl cultures? Maybe to gist and laugh and play? What was Dinah thinking of, going off into the lion’s den alone and without support? This was indeed very presumptuous of her, and the consequences we know were very dire. Shechem the Hivite saw her and raped her, and the daughters of the land did nothing about it. Why? It was an acceptable culture to them.

Don’t intermingle with the world system, for the things of the world. Don’t reduce yourself to the ways of the world just for the sake of intermingling with the world. The world system may look flashy, beautiful and innocent on the outside but it is deep and dark on the inside. If you must interact with the world, then it must be done with your gloves on and your antenna of high alert.

Because the world is never innocent, don’t, therefore, be naive with the world.

“I’ll keep my gloves on when dealing with the world before they inflict irreparable damage on me. I must mingle and interact with the world, but I will only so do with Your Holy Spirit guiding my every move and relationship. I will not be naive and so Lord, order my heart and my steps. Amen.”
