RESPOND TO YOUR FAMILY

September 7, 2017

Genesis 34:7 (NKJV).

“And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter…”

Be jealous for your family. This is your right and this ought to be. What harms your family harms you, and whatever hurts your family, hurts you. Don’t be silent when evil and trouble invades your family. No matter how peaceful your life is, you cannot be at peace when your siblings are at war. You are drawn into their battles because of the family cord that binds you. This applies to both blood as well as spiritual family.

When Jacob’s sons heard of what happened to their sister, they were indeed justifiably angry and grieved. Of course, their expression of grief and anger was to a wrong extreme but they had a right to feel defiled and offended.

Don’t be silent while your family is at war. You need to be involved.

“Lord, move my heart with what touches my family. Whether biological or spiritual, let righteous anger fill my heart when any member of my family is abused or oppressed in any way. Oh Lord, how can I celebrate and be joyfully when my brethren are being plundered. I will not! I will not!!”
