“…So she said, ‘What will you give me, that you may come in to me?’”

Sex was designed to be free; a free expression of love and intimacy within the marriage covenant. Sex was never intended to be a bargaining tool before or within marriage. Once sex is used as an instrument of exploitation and extraction, then it has departed from its original intention. Never use sex to gain an advantage. Never use sex to receive a gift or a promotion or an addition. In summary: Never use sex to get something from someone. That was not the reason for its making. It’s to be a gift of mutual love and mutual satisfaction.

But she said to him, “Before you can have sex with me, you must give me something.” Whether in marriage or outside, that is the language of prostitution. Whenever sex is for sale, it’s the prostitute’s market; and that is one market the Lord God abhors.

Flee from the market that merchandises in God’s free gifts. Like love, every good and perfect gift from above is free. Don’t sell what God gave free. Find and fulfill the right environment to express God’s free gifts. For sex, that is and must only be in the contractual framework of marriage.

“Lord, I will not use sex or any of Your free gifts as a thing for personal profit. I will keep holy that which You intended to be holy and not prostitute Your free gifts. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
