MISCHIEVOUS BREAKTHROUGH

October 3, 2017

Genesis 38:29 (NKJV)

“Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, ‘How did you break through? This breach be upon you!’ Therefore his name was called Perez.”

Perez usurped his brother’s position. He was not the legitimate one to come out first. The brother was set to come out first and had already started coming out, but Perez dragged him back inside and usurped his place. So he broke through his brother’s place and took over. He breached his brother because of either strength or skill. Scripture calls his coming forth first as unexpected.

Don’t use skill, craft, energy or any other means to usurp the position of your brother. If God has placed him ahead of you, respect that. Overtaking your brother by legitimate means is ok, but it must not be by craftiness and underhandedness. I need a breakthrough that lifts my brother and me at the same time. A breakthrough that lifts me up and leaves my brother is not a godly advance. I need to reject such and called it by its actual name, which is “mischievous breakthrough.”
