Genesis 39:16-17 (NKJV)
“So she kept his garment with her until his master came home. Then she spoke to him with words like these, saying, ‘The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me.’”
The wickedness of man is unbelievable. Those who seek your good today may be the very ones to seek your destruction tomorrow. Never trust anyone who tries to lead you into sin or to lead you away from your sacred trust. Such friendships are not worth the salt and are not real friendships. Anyone suggesting and proposing you break your trust is himself not trustworthy and will never come to your defense in your hour of need.
The same woman who was “so in love” with Joseph, lied against him and handed him over to her husband for whatever consequences it brought him. She didn’t care what happened to him. She knew that the response of her husband would be grave, even probably leading to Joseph’s death; but she didn’t care. It didn’t matter. Once she didn’t get what she had wanted, Joseph meant nothing to her after that.
Never trust a seducer. They are always treacherous.
“Oh God, deliver me from precarious relationships. Save me from friends who are not loyal or committed to my values. Help me stand on the firm foundations of truth, knowing that everything else will fade away, except Your Truth. This is my prayer, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
