Genesis 40:5 (NKJV)
“…both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.”
Don’t compare lives and don’t compare dreams. Although there may be a similarity in what’s happening to two people, the overall plan for each is different, and we need to stay sensitive to that.
Both the Butler and the Baker had offended Pharaoh, and both had been put in the same jail, and both had similar dreams on the same night. So much resemblance but we must avoid group analysis because God deals with us as individuals, not as a group. And the interpretation of our life situations may not be the same, even though the external circumstances may look similar.
Each man’s life and each man’s dream has its unique interpretation. Don’t lump your life’s direction with another person’s because there is a similarity. Each person is unique, and let us seek God’s special direction for each man.
“Lord, may I not be quick to assess anyone’s situation based on comparisons with other people’s historic storylines. Give me the eye to understand each’s uniqueness and therefore treat each one as such. Amen.”
