Genesis 40:7-8 (NKJV)
“So he asked Pharaoh’s officers…’Why do you look so sad today.’ And they said to him, ‘We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.’…”
Sorrow is the natural result of living an indecipherable life. When we walk through the paths of life unsure about where we are headed, a weight and a pain naturally walk alongside. Calmness comes when there is an explanation or interpretation of the events that occur around us.
The Butler and the Baker both had dreams which they knew could unravel and explain their current situations and maybe predict their future, but there was no one to interpret. And they could not interpret it themselves. That was their weakness and therefore their source of sorrow.
If no-one can interpret the directions of your life and dreams, then seek God for a personal interpretation. Don’t let your joy depend on finding someone to explain your life to you. As a child of God, seek God and let Him speak to you directly, giving you understanding and joy and direction in life.
“Lord, I will not live in the sorrow of darkness and ignorance. You know all that concerns me, and I depend on You to decode the dark mysteries that may surround my life. I will not self-interpret but allow You to give meaning to my present and my future. Amen.”
