PREPARATION TO ENTER

October 18, 2017

Genesis 41:14 (NKJV)

“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh.”

Don’t just rush into the presence of God. Yes, we’ve been told to enter in boldly but come boldly only after having prepared to meet your King. That the king has summoned you out of the dungeon does not mean you should meet the king in prison cell clothes. You need to clean yourself up quickly and carefully and ensure you don’t enter the king’s presence in jail garments. Carelessly appearing before the king may bring you wrath rather than a blessing.

So yes, Pharaoh had summoned for Joseph, but the court attendants knew that Joseph needed to be prepared to meet Pharoah; and they helped him. Joseph may not have known what to do but those who were used to Pharaoh’s expectations invested in doing the needful to prepare Joseph for Pharaoh’s presence.

Ensure your filth, and sinful aroma has been cleaned up before entering the Lord’s presence. Jesus will send help to clean you up and change your clothing if you let Him. But it would be a direct affront to God to expect to meet Him while willfully carrying the stench of the old dungeon life. And we must also serve as helpers to others on their journey into His presence. Criticizing them from afar will not help them. Step up to instruct and assist them, so that they might enter the King’s court properly arrayed.

“May I not be flippant in entering Your presence, O my God. May I prepare my heart properly. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
