AN EXAMPLE OF HUMILITY

October 19, 2017

Genesis 41:16

“So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’”

Give glory to whom glory is due. Resist the temptation to show yourself as someone special; as someone unique in your right; as someone skillful by human ingenuity. A correct understanding of who we are and our real human frame will cause us to give all glory to the Almighty; for anything good or worthwhile in us comes from God. We must own up to that as a fact; in Man, no good thing dwells outside of what God puts there. This understanding engenders true humility and true recognition of God’s overarching role in the good works flowing through us.

Joseph could have taken credit, but he knew better. His words are very symbolic: “It is not in me.” Such humility! Although he knew he had provided correct dream-interpretations in the past and although he was aware that whatever he touched seemed to have prospered; however, he was also mindful of the fact that all of these were not from him but God above.

Taking the glory that belongs to God is one of the surest ways to kill the continuous flow of the gift of God through your life. Always presenting Christ as the reason for the results in your life, will increase the chances of these kinds of results continuing to manifest in your life, even in probably more increased measures. Don’t take the glory because it’s not from you. Give all glory back to Him who is glory in Himself.

“Forbid me to be boastful, Lord. I know that without God, I am but a broken vessel with little or no value to anyone. May I always remember this stark truth, so that I never become proud or conceited because of the gifts of God in my life. Amen.”
