Genesis 45:3 (NKJV)
“Then Joseph said to his brothers, ‘I am Joseph; does my father still live?’ But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed in his presence.”
This must have been a most traumatic time for the brothers. The nemesis they had carefully concealed for years was staring them in the face. It was unimaginable. It must have been terrifying. They must have been numb. They had told everyone that Joseph was dead and yet here was the reality of the man standing before them – as lord of Egypt.
Be careful not to conceal the sins of your past or your present because they have a way of catching up with you, and embarrassing you. Self-disclosure, at least to the closest members of your family and friends, is essential. Hiding of sinful or shameful events of the past will only further alienate you from those you love in the long term. And if no one finds out, it will certainly stare you in the face one day, before the throne of God.
Hidden sin eventually reveals itself, one day, in one form or another. Be totally open about it today.
“Lord, may I never hide anything that can haunt me one day in the future. May I totally and completely open up everything that needs to be seen, particularly among those who need to know. May transparency be my trademark. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
