LIFE BENCHMARKS

Genesis 46:30 (NKJV)

“And Israel said to Joseph, ‘Now let me die, since I have seen your face, because you are still alive.’”

What is your benchmark in life, after which you want to leave this temporary dwelling place? What are your references in your present assignment after which you can say it is time to move forward? What are your academic, spiritual and financial benchmarks?

For Israel, seeing Joseph was his benchmark and seeing his son again was all that he needed to do before departing from this world. He was now a happy and fulfilled old man, ready to meet his creator.

Once your benchmarks are clear, your life will have meaning and direction. Once your parameters are clear, you will understand when it is time to move on. Without benchmarks, you will keep toiling without a sense of ending to the toil and labor. This is a life wasted.

Therefore, it is important to set clear benchmarks on your life’s journey. This makes life have direction and meaning.

“Lord, I will not and cannot set benchmarks for myself. I look to You to determine what my benchmarks should be for each phase of my life. I don’t want to run without clear parameters, so I look to you, my Lord, to give me the frameworks around which I must operate. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
